Shame on the president and Congress for allowing the unemployment benefits extension to stay at a halt for over SIX MONTHS!! No one is really pushing the issue anymore while nearly 4 million unemployment people are without their benefits.

UPDATE on May 10, 2014: It has been reported there is New legislation (HR 4550) which would extend Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) benefits and has been introduced in the House, as we know. This would amend the legislation that has already passed in the Senate. However, it would need to be approved in both the Senate and House.

UPDATE on May 8, 2014:

Labor Department boss Tom Perez noted in a letter to Boehner (R-Ohio) that the Senate already passed a bill reauthorizing the benefits that expired in December.

"We
worked closely with a bipartisan group of Senators," Perez wrote, "and
remain willing to do the same with you and others in the House."

Congressman
Mike Fitzpatrick (PA-8)  introduced H.R. 4550 on May 2nd. It is new
legislation (HR 4550) which would extend Emergency Unemployment
Compensation (EUC) benefits which expired last December

Unemployed Americans Still Without Benefits since Dec. 28th

This is pretty disgraceful. If you haven't been keeping up with the news, unemployment benefits for over 5 million Americans ran out at the end of December. Actually, you may not have known about this because strangely enough, television media have not been covering it. It has only been discussed online through news blogs. Congress and the Senate have been teeter-tottering around with the issue and have brought it up to be voted on twice and it failed to renew benefits for those who can not find work.
