Slain Mayoral Candidate Marco McMillian To Get FBI Investigation

A Mississippi congressman on Tuesday asked the FBI to review the slaying of an openly gay mayoral candidate to determine if any federal laws might have been violated. U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson's district includes Clarksdale, where Marco McMillian was running. McMillian, 34, was found slain last week in a rural area nearby.

The coming mayoral election on May 7 in Clarksdale, Miss., will have to go on without one of their candidates Marco McMillian. This week his SUV was involved in a wreck and he was nowhere to be found. The openly gay candidate's body was found near a Mississippi River levee on Wednesday in Clarksdale.
