Florida Teacher Accused of Having Sexual Relationship with Teen Boy Student on Campus

A Florida teacher was arrested Friday after she was accused of having a sexual relationship with a female student last year.

Jaclyn Truman, 30, allegedly had a two-month relationship with a 15-year-old female student last year while Truman was serving as a long-term substitute teacher at Hagerty High School in Seminole County, Fla., the Orlando Sentinel reported.

The student told deputies form the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office she and the Truman had sex “multiple times” in the high school from March to May 2016, WFTV reported.

A report was filed on Oct. 4 and Truman was placed on leave from Lake Howell High, where she was then teaching, after Child Protective Services called the school, WFTV reported.
The educator resigned from her position at the school Thursday and turned herself in to police the same day, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Amie Neely was arrested on Nov. 10 on a charge of unlawful sex with a minor.

Florida Teacher Caught Having Sex with Exchange Student By Husband, Blames It On Mid Life Crisis

A Florida teacher Amie Neely, 38, was arrested on felony charges after she was caught having sex with a 16-year-old foreign exchange student.
Neely was taken into custody last week, police told South Florida's WPTV, after her husband tracked her location using the GPS on her phone and found her getting it on with the teenager in a nearby parking lot.
Neighbors reported the incident to the police after the teen showed up at a nearby home later that day and said he'd been kicked out of the house "because he had sex with Amie."
The student said he and Neely had slept together several times "during their affair" after initially exchanging text messages "referencing sexual connotations," according to the police report obtained by local media outlets, including in her bedroom when her husband wasn't home.
The former Christian school teacher denied having several sexual encounters with the student. She reportedly telling police the boy had pressured her to have sex with him many times and that due to her "midlife crisis issues" she thought he would stop asking if she slept with him once.
A representative for the Community Christian Academy in Stuart, Fla., where Neely was a teacher prior to the incident, told the Daily News on Wednesday that she is no longer employed by the school.
Community Christian Academy is aware of a legal situation involving a teacher and we are cooperating with law enforcement officials who are dealing with this as an ongoing investigation," Norma Hammond, administrative director for the school, told WPTV in the wake of Neely's arrest. “For that reason we have no further comment at this time. We will be issuing a more detailed statement after meeting with school board and church leadership.”
Some parents at the school were surprised at the news, but also offered sympathy for situation.
"But you know what? She is a human being," parent Terri Gillam told WPBF 25 News. "And we all are vulnerable at different times in our life. You know, and that's sad. It's sad, because evidently, low self-esteem, you never know what goes on in people's homes. It's sad. And that's what I feel like, and that's what I pray for -- for her."
Police spokesman Master Sgt. Frank Sabol told WPTV stated: “A teacher who does this breaches the public trust, shows a complete lack of ethics and good judgment and has no app
Neely was reportedly released from jail on Sunday on $15,000 bail.
These teachers have to stop all this madness. Its utterly ridiculous and shameful.

Duval County Teacher Michael Worrell Arrested on Child Sex Charges

Florida teacher Michael Worrell arrested

Duval County Teacher Michael Worrell Arrested on Child Sex Charges

Fourth grade teacher Michael Worrell, 61, was removed from his classroom on Aug. 22 at Greenfield Elementary School on the Southside. According to the Duval County School District, he was arrested Tuesday on four counts of sexual battery on a child and one count of lewd and lascivious conduct on a child.

The police report states, three child victims told investigators that Worrell sexually assaulted them in various local hotels. The reports says the assaults ranged from 2006 to 2012, according to the report. The victims ranged in ages from 9 to 13 at the time of the offenses.

A school district spokeswoman Jill Johnson said this in a news release:
"The Duval Schools family is extremely concerned by the allegations against a teacher at Greenfield Elementary School," . "Based on new processes and enhanced communication between agencies, the district removed this teacher from the classroom immediately upon notification of an investigation into inappropriate behavior off campus. We will provide the outcome of the investigation to the Professional Practices Commission in Tallahassee for any potential action against his teaching certificate."
Worrell is not eligible for bond and the Department of Children and Families is also investigating the charges against him.
Worrell's wife, Alma Worrell, spoke publicly about her husband's arrest. She said it is hard on her family because they know the young people who accused her husband. She said they were at their home regularly, and she said her husband was just trying to help them out.

Alma said at least one of the three children is a girl her husband knew from one of the schools where he taught, and they've known each other for years. She said the girl even spent weeks at their home during the summer, and her husband would pick up her and her friend and buy them food when they needed it.
Parents of the school are alarmed and disgusted by the accusations. There might be some reason why Worrell might not have been a great pick to become a full time teacher.

According to Worrell's background and personnel file, in his last performance review in March 2011 was rated "satisfactory." He got an "unsatisfactory" rating for "shows sensitivity to students by maintaining a positive classroom environment." He got a "needs improvement" for "demonstrates professional behavior."

Channel 4 crime analyst Ken Jefferson says even when a person is in a position of trust, such as a teacher, parents still have to keep their guard up.

One parent gave some of the best advice anyone should take seriously when it comes to their kids:
"The best way to protect yourself as a parent and protecting your children is just to not trust anyone," Jefferson said. "You can't just close your eyes and give your kids away and think that they're in good hands because of the status of the individual."
Sometimes we just don't know where they find people like this to teach our children. We really want to know if they consider all areas when hiring teachers.
